Epic Dressage show, full volunteer list, perfect weather

Second Annual Barn Crawl
One of the first big events on Friday night, sponsored by Tractor Supply, the barn crawl had three main categories: Best Food, Best Drink and Best Décor. So many barns participated and put a lot of effort in their decorations and offerings. We had so much fun with the Western themed tent by Donner Huf Dressage and Heidi Gaians team. Attendees sampled everyone's delicious offerings during the sunny Friday evening and the winners took home Santa Barbara themed gift baskets. Congratulations to our winners In The Irons for Best Food, Asunción Valley Farm for Best Décor and Maddie Cobb and Jane Aerosmith for Best Drink! Cheers.

BBQ
Hector from by Oak and Smoke BBQ and Catering rolled in around noon and cooked his fare all day long, enticing us with the aromas of his BBQ dinner. Served on time to over sixty competitors, volunteers and friends of the chapter, we heard a chorus “oohs” and “ahhs” over the excellent flavors and generous portions. Hector and his crew won the 805 Competition for the Best Brisket, and we all know why! We look forward to having them back next Summer.
RAAC
The show started on time with a record 108 entries! Like the Spring show, this one also ticked along, smooth as a Swiss clock. Sara Cutter brought together her army of over 70 volunteers and they were absolutely fantastic! Our two judges Lilo Fore and Katy Barglow worked quietly and expertly, along with our competent scribes. Additionally, Heather Salden Kurtz judged from “E” on Sunday afternoon in Ring 1, so competitors during that time received a bonus score. The highlight of the show was an amazing "I love Rock n Roll" exhibition Intro Level freestyle ridden by 8-year-old Loghan Tobias. The Prix Caprilli classes were popular with the spectators as well as competitors. The RAAC competition was successfully accomplished, and we all loved shopping with our favorite vendors. Regina Antonioli and Diana Muravez once again handled the details with excellence. Diana is retiring this year, and we honored & thanked her for all her contributions to our shows and to our sport.
Volunteers
Volunteer Coordinator Sara Cutter was once again a quen of project management. After the weekend, she sent a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you those who helped make this year’s Summer Dressage in Santa Barbara such a wonderful success. In her own words: "From set-up through the final moments of the show, so many people generously gave their time, energy, and enthusiasm to help everything come together. Whether you were up bright and early, working ringside, helping behind the scenes, assisting competitors, handing out awards, or jumping in wherever an extra set of hands was needed, every contribution mattered." Sara wrote even more but hopefully, all volunteers opened their email and received the full message. Congratulations goes out to Lisa Lorden, the winner of our Volunteer Raffle Basket from Tres Osos Ranch! We hope you enjoy your prize!
Show
This show was just again a highlight of the year. With competitors who drove from Los Angeles (Kristi Harrison) and our Barn Crawl winners at Precision Farms (Norco) 108 entries is no small feat and the warm up ring and our Vanquish arena and Twenty Four Carrots Dressage rings were busy both days. Announcer extraordinaire Hunter Shumake returned once again, the weather could not have been any more perfect and the mood over the weekend was up, up, up.
Thank you to all the Sponsors of the show including Wendy Brown who sponsored the Coffee Cart. If we missed anyone, please reach out to nicole.silverliningpr@gmail.com. You can find all the sponsors here: https://www.sbccds.org/becomeasponsor
