If you haven't had a chance to meet Julie Corlett yet, we're happy to introduce her. She's our new valley representative on the SBC-CDS board, and she brings an impressive background — and a very promising four-year-old Hanoverian — along with her.
Forty Years and Counting
Julie has been training and teaching dressage for over 40 years. She's earned her Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medals with USDF, and in 1983 she was certified by the British Horse Society, earning her B.H.S.A.I. She has coached students all the way up to FEI levels, and she counts bringing horses and riders up through the levels together as one of her most rewarding accomplishments.
Say Hello to Fortunado
Julie's current horse is Fortunado, a four-year-old Hanoverian gelding she purchased when he was just two and a half. She describes him as "generous and kind," and this year she's planning to show him at Training Level. She also continues to work as a trainer riding other clients' horses, so her days in the saddle are full ones.
Her New Business
Last year Julie launched Julie Corlett Equine Human and Pet Wellness, offering PEMF, Red Light Therapy, and Cryotherapy for horses, humans, and pets. The focus is on reducing pain and inflammation and improving cellular health and circulation. She's found it deeply rewarding to help clients — on both two legs and four — find relief from various physical ailments. It's a wonderful extension of the care she's always brought to her work with horses.
What She Loves About SBC-CDS
Julie loves the beauty and weather of Santa Barbara County, and she especially values the sense of community here — the social events, the horse shows, and the chance to get to know new members. This year she's looking forward to more educational opportunities through the chapter.
We're glad to have her on the board and representing the valley!
