SBC-CDS celebrates volunteers

On Sunday, November 3rd, SBC-CDS put on an Appreciation BBQ for all the volunteers. Hosted at Show Chair Karen Christensen's home, members and volunteers got together to enjoy burgers, salads, cake and good company.

Greeted by dinosaurs Sue and Rose members passed fragrant lemon trees to a stunning view of the mountains.

The weather was perfect for an outdoor get-together and Karen's terrace was a wonderful setting to join each other for a chat, delight in the foods and share stories about the show, horses and life.

Grill master Bill Paxson prepared delicious burger paddies and hot dogs with crispy buns to rest on. Allyson Aldrich brought tasty potato salad while Karen and Samantha Flynn combined efforts to make a flavorful coleslaw salad. Followed by a choice of pumpkin pie and a big white cake, guests were leaving full and happy.

Fundraising chair Lynne Sherman whisked around during the BBQ to take photos (enjoy below) and many pitched in for a quick and efficient clean up after the event was over.

The SBC-CDS show was one of the biggest shows and Chapter Chair Gina von der Burg acknowledged the hard work all the volunteers and board members had put in. She reported that the chapter had put themselves on the map with this show and CDS was paying attention to the great accomplishment. There's no show without the people who make it happen behind the scenes and with the amount of classes, riders and horses it took an SBC-CDS village to make it happen.

The chapter is grateful to everyone who participated in making this show the success it was. Members and non-members taking such an interest in the success of the shows and donating their time, skill, money and effort is what makes the chapter strong and what makes the shows worthwhile for competitors near and far.

All the SBC-CDS shows as well as educational and social events can only be achieved with the support and participation of members and volunteers and the chapter hopes to add many more to the calendar.
